Agent is an 2023 Indian Telugu-language spy action thriller film[3] directed by Surender Reddy from a story written by Vakkantham Vamsi. It stars Akhil Akkineni, Mammootty, Dino Morea, Sakshi Vaidya, and Vikramjeet Virk.

A spy with a mysterious past has to unveil the truth about a dangerous terrorist organization. Agent was announced in September 2020. Filming took place in Hyderabad, Budapest, Visakhapatnam and Manali. The film’s release has been deferred multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic and production delays. Agent was theatrically released on 28 April 2023. Ramakrishna ‘Ricky’ aspires to become a RAW agent since his childhood. His dream is almost fulfilled when he meets Colonel Mahadev alias “The Devil”, who assigns him to capture “The God”, a former corrupt RAW agent, who has turned from the agency and created his own crime syndicate in Budapest, as a rookie. A straightforward mission goes haywire when Mahadev gets killed and Ricky is blamed for his death. He sets on a crusade to prove his innocence and destroy “The God” and his syndicate. Akkineni’s role as a spy was reportedly inspired by the character of Jason Bourne from the American-German film series Bourne.[10] Akkineni bulked up his body for the role.[11] In December 2020, model Sakshi Vaidya was confirmed as the female lead.[12] In March 2021, Mohanlal was approached for the role of a military officer.[10] Subsequently, Upendra was also considered, but the role was ultimately signed by Mammootty, whose casting was confirmed in June 2021. It also marks the collaboration between Mammootty, Akkineni and Surender Reddy.[13][14] Dino Morea was cast as the main antagonist, who plays a rogue agent.
