Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva (2022)

The story of Shiva Brahmāstra – a young man on the brink of an epic love, with a girl named Isha. But their world is turned upside down when Shiva learns that he has a mysterious connection to the Brahmāstra… and a great power within him that he doesn’t understand just yet – the power of Fire.

Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva (Hindi pronunciation: [bɾəʱmaːst̪ɾ]; transl. The weapon of Brahma),initially titled as Dragon, is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language fantasy adventure film written and directed by Ayan Mukerji. It is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Namit Malhotra, and Mukerji – in his debut production – under the production companies Dharma Productions, Starlight Pictures, and Prime Focus in association with Star Studios, along with Ranbir Kapoor and Marijke DeSouza. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni. The film is intended to serve as the first film in a planned trilogy as part of its own cinematic universe called Astraverse, sharing a common premise with the MCU.[7][8][9]

Brahmāstra was announced in October 2017 but was delayed by several years. Principal photography lasted for four years from February 2018 to March 2022 with filming locations including Bulgaria, London, New York, Edinburgh, and Varanasi.[10] Production and release of the film was delayed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film is scheduled for release on 9 September 2022 in standard formats, 3D, IMAX 3D and 4DX 3D by Star Studios in India, and by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures worldwide.[11]

Produced on an estimated budget of ₹410 crore (US$51 million),[6] Part One – Shiva is one of the most expensive Indian films to date
