Kaapa (2022) [Hindi-Malayalam]

Kaapa is a 2022 Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film directed by Shaji Kailas, written by G. R. Indugopan and produced by Fefka Writers Union, Theatre of Dreams and Saregama India. It stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role with Asif Ali, Aparna Balamurali and Anna Ben. Dawn Vincent and Jakes Bejoy composed the original songs and film score.[1][2]

Kaapa was at first to be directed by Venu. But later, he dropped out of the project due to creative differences.[3] Manju Warrier was cast in the film for an important role but she opted out as she was busy with the shooting of Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu. Aparna Balamurali was then cast as the replacement.[4]

Kaapa was released theatrically on 22 December 2022 and received positive reviews from critics.

What happens when the name of an innocent girl appears in Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act (KAAPA), the list of most wanted people in Kerala. Anand and Binu are techies and happily married couple in Bangalore, who are transferred to Thiruvananthapuram as part of their job. However, their happiness is short lived when Anand finds that Kaapa Binu’s name is present in the “Kerala Anti-social Activities Prevention Act” (KAAPA) because of news stories that carried her name along with crimes she allegedly committed. He tries to clear Binu’s name, claiming that she is innocent, and seeks out Kotta Madhu, the city’s leading gangster, and his wife Prameela for their help. While trying to clear Binu’s name, Anand inadvertently gets caught up between the local gang wars.
