A petty criminal, who loves a whore and wants to run away with her savings, meets a laid-off factory worker who is desperate to stop his wife from working as a housemaid. Bangladesh-India joint venture “Mayar Jonjal”, directed by Indranil Roychowdhury released today in 16 cinema halls across the country.

Produced by Josim Ahmed from Bangladesh, the film marks the comeback of renowned actor Aupee Karim on the silver screen after 15 years. Recently, Aupee Karim appeared in a screening of the film on February 20, at the Star Cineplex in Sony Square. The project also features celebrated Indian actor Ritwick Chakraborty, Shohel Mondal, Chandreyee Ghosh, and Bratya Basu. The film is based on Manik Bandopadhyay’s two short stories, titled ‘Bishakto Prem’ and ‘Shubala’. “Mayar Jonjal” first premiered at the 23rd Shanghai International Film Festival. It was officially selected for screening at the Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF). Indranil Roychowdhury directorial “Mayar Jonjal” (Debris of Desire) is all set to appear in theatres coming February 24. The project is a joint venture between Bangladesh and Kolkata, helmed by Bangladesh’s Views & Vision alongside India’s Flipbook. The film features prominent actress Aupee Karim, Shohel Mondol, and Indian actor Ritwick Chakraborty in pivotal roles. Fans will also see Kamalika Banerjee, Paran Banerjee, Bratya Basu,Chandreyee Ghosh and others in different roles. Aupee Karim has been inactive in the film industry for over a decade now, having recently appeared in a screening for the film on February 20, at the Star Cineplex in Sony Square. Moreover, according to the film’s producer Jashim Ahmed, Mayar Jonjal ” will have a special screening today at Kolkata. About the film’s release, Views & Vision told media outlets that the film will be screened in multiple cinema halls of Dhaka and other districts. The list of cinema halls include, all the branches of Star Cineplex, Shyamoli, Jamuna Future Park’s Blockbuster Cinema, Keraniganj’s Lions Cinemas, Narayanganj’s CineScope, Chattogram’s Sugandha and Silver Screen cinema hall.
