The Last Coffee (2023)

On the verge of a divorce, The Last Coffee Rehaan and Iram meet for one last time over coffee. But they get stuck in a snowstorm and are left with no choice except to confront their pent-up feelings.

Raj Kushwaha Films, Sakshi Seth Films, Shoib Shah Films, Raywings Edu Pvt. Ltd. and Rahat Kazmi Film Studios Pvt. Ltd.’s The Last Coffee is the story of a married couple which is on the threshold of a divorce.

Rehaan (Shoib Nikash Shah) and Iram (Ankita Lokhande) have applied for divorce. The court asks them to wait for the mandatory six months (known as the cooling period) before it can grant them divorce by mutual consent. After leaving court, Rehaan invites Iram to his house for their last cup of coffee together. As luck would have it, there is a snow storm and the two are forced to spend more time together than they had expected. The two go down memory lane and remember theirn journey together. What happens thereafter?

Shoib Nikash Shah has penned a story which is quite dull and, therefore, often boring. His screenplay oscillates between the present and the past, which sometimes gets confusing for the audience. Even otherwise, the drama does not have much to sustain the viewers’ interest. Climax is below the mark and the ending is weird. Shoib Shah’s dialogues are okay.

Ankita Lokhande does reasonably well as Iram. Shoib Nikash Shah is average in the role of Rehaan. Mansi Sharma lends fair support as Aayat. Rani Bhan (as Iram’s mother), Jagdish Raj (as Iram’s father) and Anjana Mishra (as Rehaan’s mother) provide routine support in relatively smaller roles.

Shoib Nikash Shah’s direction is very The Last Coffee ordinary. On the music (Tuhin Biswas) front, two songs are alright. Lyrics (by Shahid Kazmi and Shoib Nikash Shah) are alright. Tuhin Biswas’ background music is average. Luxmi Chand’s camerawork is routine. Production designing (by Rakesh Dogra) is nothing to shout about. Krishnaa’s editing leaves something to be desired.

On the whole, The Last Coffee is a poor fare.
