Black Knight (Korean: 택배기사) is a South Korean streaming television series written and directed by Cho Ui-seok, and starring Kim Woo-bin, Song Seung-heon, Kang Yoo-seok and Esom.[5] Based on the webtoon of the same title by Lee Yun-kyun, it depicts a dystopian future where extensive air pollution has destroyed most of the world and forced the people who are st ill alive to depend on elite delivery drivers for survival. It was released on Netflix on May 12, 2023.

In 2071, extreme air pollution has turned the majority of the Korean peninsula into a wasteland and wiped out all but 1% of its original population. The survivors are required to wear respirators and rely on the “Knights”, specialized delivery drivers, to provide them with the supplies (especially fresh oxygen) they need to stay alive. One day, a legendary knight called ‘5-8’ meets a boy named Sa-Wol, who wishes to become a Knight just like him, and decides to train him so that he can accomplish his dream in the dark and dangerous world that they live in. Black Knight featured Korea’s top visual effects team, VFX Studio Westworld, who worked on series such as Sweet Home, Squid Game, and All of Us Are Dead. In the desert area, sand was laid on a construction site of 50,000 pyeong, and a road was made with about 1 km of soil to digest various scenes were filled with VFX. Lee Byeong-ju from Westworld Headquarters, said “source shooting was conducted in areas such as Bayanjak in Mongolia and Honggorin Els in the Gobi Desert, and expressed as deserts suitable for each environment. In 2071, toxic air pollution had devastated the world, leaving only 1% of the population alive. People rarely leave their homes without gas masks, and delivery drivers known as knights protect and deliver packages. One legendary knight, Knight 5-8, meets a young refugee named Sa Wol who dreams of Black Knight becoming a knight. With the help of Seol A, an officer in the Defense Intelligence Command, Knight 5-8 trains and mentors Sa Wol, helping him achieve his dream in a dangerous and harsh world.
